Creator policy

Ration, operated by Ration Media LLC
Effective: [EFFECTIVE DATE, set on the day you publish]

This page is for creators whose work appears in Ration. It says what Ration does with your work, what it never does, and how to have your work removed.

What Ration is

Ration is an iOS app that helps people watch social video on purpose instead of on autopilot. Our editors choose creators and videos from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, group them by topic, and serve them in short, timed sessions. When a person taps a video in Ration, they leave Ration and watch it on the platform where you published it.

What we do with your work

We link. We do not host. Ration stores the public link to your video, your name, your handle, and a title. It does not download, copy, cache, embed, transcode, re-stream, or mirror your video or audio. There is no player inside Ration.

Every view goes to you. Because playback happens on your own channel, every view, like, comment, follow, watch-time minute, and every dollar of ad revenue or platform payout lands in your account, on your platform, under your platform's terms. Ration takes no cut and inserts no ads.

We send people to you, not away from you. Every video card shows "Content by [you] on [Platform]" and a "Watch on [Platform]" button. Your creator page in Ration links to your channels with a "Subscribe on YouTube" or "Follow on [Platform]" button. Ration's job is to hand you an intentional viewer.

What we show inside Ration. Your name and handle; for YouTube, the video thumbnail and your channel image loaded live from YouTube's own servers; for TikTok and Instagram, a Ration-designed card with your name and the title (we do not pull images from those platforms). Alongside each video we may show a two-to-three-sentence editorial note about why it is worth watching. That note is our writing, not a summary of your video, and it never quotes you.

What we never do. We do not claim any rights in your work. We do not license it to anyone. We do not sell access to it: every video link in Ration is free to every user, subscriber or not. We do not use your name, likeness, or channel art in advertising or App Store screenshots without your written permission.

How we choose

Our editors choose every creator in Ration and hold their videos to a written standard: real expertise or rigorous sourcing, no clickbait, no funnels into paid courses or coaching, no pseudoscience. Software helps us sort and label the library. It does not decide what belongs. We select from a creator's work, so a channel being in Ration does not mean every one of its videos is. Being in Ration is an editorial selection, not an endorsement deal, and it creates no obligation on either side.

Opting out

You can have any video, or your whole channel, removed from Ration at any time. You do not need to give a reason.

Email: creators@rationmedia.com Subject: Creator removal Include: the link to your channel, or the links to the specific videos, on each platform you want covered.

We may reply to confirm that the request came from you (for example, by asking you to send it from an email listed on your channel, or to add a short note to your channel description for a day).

Our commitment: removal within seven (7) days of receiving your request. In practice it is usually the same day. Once removed, your channel is placed on an exclusion list so it is not re-added by our intake tools, and it stays excluded unless you ask us to lift it.

If you want only some videos removed and others kept, say so and we will do exactly that.

Being considered

If you would like your work considered for Ration, email the same address with links to a few videos you are proud of. We look for rigor, real expertise, and understated presentation. We cannot promise a reply to every submission.

Because we link rather than host, a complaint about the video itself belongs with the platform that hosts it. If you believe something displayed inside Ration — a link, thumbnail, title, or editorial note — infringes your copyright, see section 8 of our Terms of Use for the notice procedure, or simply use the opt-out above; it is faster.
