Curated content, on your terms

A session, not a feed

Your attention is a resource. Ration it wisely.

ration is an iOS app for people who want the good part of the internet without the feed. Pick a duration, a topic and a platform. ration hands you a short session of hand-picked educational video, then gets out of the way.

What it is

Three things hold the whole idea up

The session ends

You choose how long you have. Ten minutes before a meeting, an hour on a Sunday. The queue is sized to the time you gave it, and then it stops.

A person sets the bar

A person chooses every creator and sets the standard their videos must meet. Nothing is surfaced because it performed well.

Creators keep their work

ration links out to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. It hosts nothing. Views land on the creator's own channel, counted by their own platform.

The shape of a session

Four choices, then you watch

  1. Duration The length of the session sets the length of the queue.
  2. Topic Nineteen categories, from ancient history to materials science.
  3. Platform YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or leave it open.
  4. Session A timer runs on the Lock Screen. When it ends, the session is over.

More on how ration works

Where the videos come from

Three platforms, none of them hosted here

ration holds no rights to any video in its library, and pays for none of it. Each entry is a link, a duration and an editor's note. The creator's work stays the creator's alone.
